Math=Movies

This article discusses how math makes the movies we know and adore.

I didn't know that:
  • Physics of certain objects is determined by a lot of geometry, and arithmetic among other things.
  • Pixar has to create something similar to a PNG file in order to animate hair.
  • Subdivision surfaces were first used in 1997 for Pixar's Geri's Game.
This article was interesting. I like how this article talks about the importance of arithmetic in computer animation. I also think it's incredible that these people have to put so much time into animating HAIR.

My one question is: Will mathematics influence other fields of animation.
