January 30th~~~

Welp, this week has been PRETTY good.
No frustrations, for the most part.
HAPPY BELATED TORI MY LOVE.

This week I learned that 3d animation IS ACTUALLY A LOT OF FUN AFTER YOU GET USED TO IT. (just throwin' that out there)

I really want to learn how to....
...I would have to say be more relaxed when I work.

What made me happy this week was getting my logo done at a decent time, so now I can work on other things~~
I'm also happy that I got my animator paper done early, thank goodness!

What frustrated me this week was probably the stress of swimming. Class A is coming up so I need to be ready! Other than that it was a good week!

THIS. OMG.
This, I thought, was hysterical and wonderfully animated!!

NEW DISNEY VIDEO GAME~~

Disney Interactive has recently announced the upcoming release of the video game Disney Infinity, which I think is awesome~~

I didn't know that:
  • The video game has elements of both Skylanders and Minecraft.
  • The game is more of a platformer than an actual video game.
  • You must buy plastic figurines in order to play as certain characters. O:
I thought this article was really cool! I'M GETTING THIS IN JUNE WHOOO~~
Seriously though, I think that families will really enjoy in this game!

My one question is: WHY MUST I WAIT UNTIL JUNE?

Escape From Tomorrow

There is a film entitled "Escape From Tomorrow", which is about a family going to Disney World. The father goes insane, and that's when things get weird and a BIT unexpected.

I didn't know that:
  • Randy Moore, the director of the movie, DIDN'T have permission to film in the theme park whatsoever.
  • Randy Moore is worried about what people will think of the overall basis of the film.
  • The film harshly criticizes Disney's style of mass entertainment.
I thought this article was kind of shocking. I never thought someone would make a film like this. I also thought that the overall thoughts that Mr. Moore had about how corporate Disney is were interesting.

My one question is: Will this film ruin Disney as a corporation?

Maggie Simpson

There was an article that talks about Maggie Simpson and her success in her latest TV special.

I didn't know that:
  • Maggie Simpson recently had her own special.
  • The short was dialogue-free.
  • The short was "started" in June 2011, but was left behind for a bit.
This article was fin to read. I like the little screenshots from the special in this article. I also like how much success this short conveyed.

My one question is: Would there be a possibility of another Simpsons movie?

Mics

There is an article about microphones and what kinds are beneficial for certain shooting tasks.

I didn't know that:
  • Shotgun mics are used to pick up sound in a narrow pattern.
  • lavaliere mics existed. xD
  • Hand held mics are useful for interviews not involving passing the mic back and forth.
This article was interesting I thought. I think it's cool that mics have so many different uses. I also like how the article goes on to say that some mics can be REALLY expensive, but don't do their job well.

My one question is: Why do microphones have so many different uses?

This week was ok, but I'm still not feeling well.
I know my blogs may be late, that's fine. I don't care.
I wasn't feeling well this weekend and I was stressed and busy and I was just frustrated.

What made me happy this week was probably doing well on my performance quizzes. I feel like I'm getting the hang of Cheetah3d.

What frustrated me this week was probably recovering from my sinus infection.. I'm not quite there yet, but I will perservere.

What I learned this week is 3d isn't what it's cracked up to be. I'm still trying to grasp it, so I hope I can figure it out better soon.

I want to learn how to be more patient when I'm sick.

Really cool animation here!

Dungeons + Dragons = Hobbit? o:

There are some speculations that Dungeons & Dragons will become the next Hobbit in the near future..

I didn't know that:
  • Dungeons & Dragons has been around for 38 years!
  • Playing Dungeons & Dragons is cliche and can automatically make you a geek or nerd.
  • Playing Dungeons & Dragons is considered "Satanic".
This article, I thought, was a little strange. I find it befuddling that Dungeons & Dragons has had such a cultural and religious impact on today's society. I also think that it's kind of stereotypical to know that Dungeons & Dragons is the epitome of geeks and nerds. ALRIGHTY THEN.

My one question is: Will this actually become a film and, if so, will ther be an uproar about it?

GIF Madness--

Over time, animated GIFs have become very huge and well-known!

I didn't know that:
  • The first animated GIF was made in 1878 or around that time!
  • Elspeth Reeve produced dozens of animated GIFs for the Summer Olympics last year!
  • GIFs were influenced by anything from Hollywood to politics.
I think this article is very intriguing. I think it it really fascinating to know that GIFs have been around for so long! I also am blown away by how much GIFs have affected today's society.

My one question is will GIFs continue to evolve as time goes by?

Weekly Update, WEEK FROM HELL TAKE 2: Jan 11, 2013

This week, all in all, was really stressful.

I learned how to use various tools in Cheetah 3d. There are a LOT of objects in that program, like dang. xD

I really want to learn how to ANIMATE in Cheetah 3d, which I believe is happening soon~~

What made me happy this week was probably getting good grades on the Performance Quizzes this week. That, or the feedback I received on my Rotoscoping project! I was also happy about starting 3d stuff!

What probably frustrated me the most this week was probably being sick. ;___;
I can't swim tonight at the meet at Ken West, which I'm bummed about, but hey, coach told me to get better and just focus on THAT. I'm relieved that he understands though..

I know I don't have much to say this week. It's because I just feel bad altogether. I'm happy this week is finally ending. This was a HEAVY week in terms of grades and whatnot.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This, I think was adorable, but it was very informative on the making of Finding Nemo.

Traditional films vs. 3d films?

There are some speculations that The Hobbit, in terms of its effects, is overwhelming and more for people. Some argue that filmmaking without all the crazy effects and technology is more efficient than 3d filmmaking.

I didn't know that:
  • Even though the visuals in The Hobbit are astounding, they overshadow the basis of the movie itself.
  • The movie can come off as "fake".
  • Less is more. It seems as though that movies that don't have many effects are a lot more worthwhile.
I'm polarized by this article. Maybe it's this guy's delivery in his writing, but it seems like he's being a tad harsh. I also think it's kind of a shame that he'd think that filmmakers are going backwards when it comes to filmmaking. I feel like this article was a bit biased, personally.

My one question is can 3d effects really overpower a blockbuster hit?

Short Film Writing

When it comes to writing short films, there are some things to keep in mind to make your story better.

I didn't know that:
  • The shorter the film, the better.
  • Providing specifics towards the characters such as personality and backstory can really sell a story.
  • Cliches are sometimes a no-go when it comes to short films because they are so noticeable.
I thought this article was really cool! I like the advice that this article provides you with. I also think that this will be very handy to those who aspire to be top-notch writers and/or directors along the way.

My one question is if you spend mre time on a short film, could it potentially be better than, say, a full-length film?

January 6th, 2013

This week, even though it wasn't even a week, was really stressful, but rewarding.
With that being said, this week I learned how to use my tablet at home :D
I also learned that GarageBand is tedious. :I

What made me happy this week was FINALLY finishing my Rotoscoping and Stop-motion projects. I finally got those two buggers finished. The stop-motion was no easy task. I'm sure everyone can relate with that xD

What frustrated me this week was the fact that when I transferred my music to my stop-motion project, THE PITCH OF THE MUSIC WAS LOWERED. UGH. I was furious! I also forgot to put the freaking credits in there as well. :I
I was also frustrated by the fact that I now have a sinus infection. I'll be honest, I wasn't with it on Friday. I felt terriblr, but you know what? I did what I could. If the stop-motion project isn't that good, whatever. I truly tried my best to finish it despite how sick I was/am.

What I really want to learn is HOW TO STOP PUTTING SO MUCH PRESSURE ON MYSELF. I swear, that's my downfall when it comes to whatever I do. If I do something wrong, I beat myself up over it. A LOT.

-sigh- but anyway...

More rotoscoping~~
I showed this to Tori and she thought this was really cool!
ope you guys like this! I think this is really amazing!
